Dr Annabelle Shalders
Dr Annabelle graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Dental Science degree with Honours. She has over 13 years of experience in general dentistry in all areas (private practice, military, public and hospital dentistry, remote and Aboriginal Services dentistry and academia).
After graduating, she worked for the Australian Defence Force and private practice in Shenton Park for 8 years. She also maintained a clinical role at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital providing acute and clinical care in the Emergency Dental Department. She is a clinical tutor at the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia Dental School teaching final year dental students. She has experience in hospital-based dentistry for medically compromised and special-needs dentistry and has worked in the public dental system and Aboriginal Medical Services.
She has recently returned from the Kimberley after 3 years working across private, public and RFDS Dental Sectors, working approximately 15 weeks of the years in remote locations with RFDS and Aboriginal Medical Services. She absolutely loved her time in the Kimberley and could talk endlessly about the beauty of the northwest and the people who live there.
She has furthered her studies by completing Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Primary Examinations with commendations in all six subjects. She continued this to complete her Fellowship with the College for which she attained the highest grade in Australasia, the Kenneth J.G Sutherland award. She has completed a Diploma in Orthodontics and is looking to extend her training in implants.
Annabelle enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is dedicated to providing excellent dental care in a friendly and caring environment. She is keen to provide dental care to the whole family and enjoys treating children. Her passion is how oral health and general health are connected, and the importance of holistic oral health care for everyone, especially in cases where integration with a patient’s medical team is required to ensure safe and optimum outcomes.
Outside of dentistry, Annabelle competes in Triathlons and is training for a half-ironman in 2025. She enjoys anything water related – surfing, fishing, boating, diving and loves a chat about anything outdoors!
