Meet our Applecross Family Dentists
Our Applecross family dentists are committed to offering quality oral health care to you and your loved ones for many years. Our patients range from toddlers experiencing their first dental appointment to valued clients in their 90s who have been visiting us for many years. Our dentists invest in a broad range of continuing education to stay at the forefront of dental developments and ensure you receive the best and most effective treatments based on current scientific evidence. But most importantly, you’ll be greeted with a friendly welcome from a familiar team that is focussed on providing you with trusted ongoing care.
Dr Dominic Longo, Dentist
Dr Dominic Longo is a respected senior dentist and is highly regarded in the dental profession. A graduate of the University of Western Australia (UWA), Dr Longo has been a dental practitioner for over 30 years and has been a central part of our team for nearly two decades.
In 2004, Dr Longo was nominated for Tutor of the Year at UWA Dental School. He was recognised with the peer nominated fellowships F.P.F.A (Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy – International Dental Organisation) in 2013 and F.I.C.D (Fellow of the International College of Dentists) in 2018. The latter title was awarded for conspicuous services rendered in the Art and Science of Dentistry
As volunteer clinical lead at St Patrick’s Dental Centre, Dominic offers pro bono dental services to the homeless and disadvantaged in Perth – underlining his belief that everyone should enjoy good oral health, regardless of their situation. Over the years, Dr Longo has also volunteered or chaired committees for Rotary, church and school.
Despite his extensive experience, Dr Longo is dedicated to continued education and embracing innovations in dental care that make treatments more effective and less invasive.
Dr Nick McCarthy, Dentist
Born and raised locally, Dr Nick McCarthy graduated from UWA in 2003, and has worked in private practice since. In 2007, Nick completed his primary examinations for the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, and in 2013 undertook a two year post-graduate diploma in aesthetic dentistry from the prestigious King’s College in London, passing with distinction.
Dr McCarthy’s passion for continuing education has gained him a wealth of knowledge across dental services. His main areas of professional interest include non-destructive dentistry, non-invasive smile enhancement and dental implant treatments. In all cases, he focuses on using multiple disciplines to achieve optimum outcomes with minimal long term impact. Nick is fascinated by the new opportunities in aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry offered by evolving technologies including 3D imaging and printing. He is an active member of the ADA and is also a contributing member of the Nobel Biocare Young Dentists Study Club of WA.
In the future, Dr McCarthy looks forward to completing further post-graduate studies in general dentistry and contributing to the development of the next generation of dentists by entering teaching and academia.
As a husband and father of three, he understands the importance of family care, and enjoys treating patients of all ages, with a very long-term view.
